Living in the Shadows

Many Scriptures tend to suggest that we are living in the shadows of the ‘real thing'. What we see & experience around us happens to be just a copy of something else. Then, where does that ‘original’ exist? Is there evidence that the ‘real’ has entered the ‘shadows’ at different points in time? Are we, as Christians, able to live in the ‘shadows’ now, while at the same time expect to experience the ‘real’ at some point in time?
